Born in 1972 in Coventry, I am a painter based in Carlisle, England. I trained at Cumbria Institute of the Arts in Fine Art and went on to attain a Masters in Moving Image at the University of South Glamorgan. Further to this i studied painting on the Turps Painters Correspondence Course 2021/22 and a small part of 2023. Primarily working with oil on linen i have a taste for the history and metaphysical painters i.e., Titian and De Chirico.

My painting involves an exploration of ideas surrounding the enigmatic, wonder and play. I enjoy the creeping thought that all is somehow familiar, but recognition, may somehow be remiss. An unknowable element, uncanny, coming into existence due in part to the composition of collage and that of recognition. I search for a virtual space that opens up this ancient expanse of the enigmatic: a space for an encounter with the mystery that fleetingly exists before we hear/read the artists intent. The liminal space existing between us and the image.

Promethean themes pervade most of my work, taking the form of exquisite corpses, exposed to the viewer in lush rococo landscapes collaged from the likes of Fragonard and Boucher, and A.I generated portraits mauled by imagination. Other works delve into mental illness, criminality and war to form a disparate yet interrelated oeuvre.
